Accessing Compendium Resources

Some Compendium resources are accessible for a limited audience and may be moderated. Below is a list of these resources, and some answers as to how access to them might be obtained.

Password-Protected Resources

  • For the General Public

    • Notes From the Arctic Circle: Out of respect for the culture and for the protection of the heritage in the small communities in Kaktovik, and to avoid any strife caused by sharing information via social media outlets, the majority of the content of this blog will be private. A small number of (tangentially-related) entries will remain public; Mr. VanWagner is willing to share password-protected material with select friends, family, as well as past and current students, but the password must be requested. (This site will tentatively be closed and archived in August 2014; all content will still be accessible.)
    • Mr. Joe’s Student Teaching Blogatorium: The first “regular” blog that Mr. VanWagner kept, this chapter outlines the experiences and observations he made as a student teacher in a classroom at an urban high school in western Michigan. (This site has been archived as of December 2010; content is still accessible.)
  • For Students

    • (2013-2014) Language Arts: For students in Mr. VanWagner‘s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes at Harold Kaveolook School. Assignments and discussion will be posted here. Students will be given a password for all entries on this site at the beginning of the school year, (This site will be closed and archived in May 2014; all content will still be accessible.)
    • (2013-2014) Science: For students in Mr. VanWagner‘s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes at Harold Kaveolook School. Assignments and discussion will be posted here. Students will be given a password for all entries on this site at the beginning of the school year, (This site will be closed and archived in May 2014; all content will still be accessible.)
    • (2013-2014) Mathematics: For students in Mr. VanWagner‘s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes at Harold Kaveolook School. Assignments and discussion will be posted here.     • (2013-2014) Social Studies: For students in Mr. VanWagner‘s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes at Harold Kaveolook School. Assignments and discussion will be posted here. Students will be given a password for all entries on this site at the beginning of the school year, (This site will be closed and archived in May 2014; all content will still be accessible.)
    • (2013-2014) Edmodo Classroom: This Edmodo (for which all users will need an account) classroom is a moderated setting for Mr. VanWagner’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students at Harold Kaveolook School to share and discuss ideas or questions about material covered in class. Students will receive a group code from Mr. VanWagner at the beginning of the school year (if lost, a new one can be requested directly). Inappropriate content and cyber-bullying are not tolerated. (This site will be closed and archived in May 2014; all content will still be accessible.)
    • Edmodo ShareSpace: This Edmodo (for which all users will need an account) “ShareSpace” is a moderated, student-driven setting is for past, present, and future students from several locations to share and discuss thoughts, questions, and experiences. Students must request a group code from Mr. VanWagner directly, but membership is allowed to continue after each school year. Inappropriate content and cyber-bullying are not tolerated, and are grounds for removal, banning, reporting, and any other action deemed appropriate, without warning.
    • (2013) Edmodo Classroom: This Edmodo (for which all users will need an account) classroom is a moderated setting for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade “Math Club” students at Central Elementary School to share and discuss ideas or questions about Math Club activities and material covered in class. Students receive a group code (if lost, a new one can be requested directly). Inappropriate content and cyber-bullying are not tolerated. (This site will be closed and archived in June 2013; all content will still be accessible.)
